“Without the Family Center of Durango, I would have gone crazy! They were able to offer me developmental information and support through the playgroups for my 3-month-old. I was new to town and did not have a support system, I sure do now!”

A major function of SWCODA is to raise awareness and assist with fundraising efforts for the Community Emergency Relief Fund (CERF).
This fund is set up for broad-based community emergencies in Southwest Colorado. CERF is actively fundraising for consequences directly related to the COVID-19 public health crisis in Southwest Colorado.
On March 19, 2020, SWCODA was activated in response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis. COVID-19 poses incredibly difficult financial challenges to our communities and threatens the livelihoods of our business community and residents.
The La Plata Family Centers Coalition provides direct support to families: assistance with utility bills, groceries, health insurance enrollment, and basic essentials for children. Contact us for more information.
The Family Development philosophy and Strengthening Families Framework is interwoven across all programs. Bayfield Afterschool & Summer program, Parents as Teachers, Family Support Services, and Colorado Community Response.
Food Assistance Programs are open to anyone residing in La Plata County or the towns of
Silverton, Mancos & Dolores. During these unprecedented times, please do not feel embarrassed about needing help! Our neighbors throughout this community have generously donated to make sure that the
families in our community who are going through a difficult time right now have the support
they need. We feel privileged to be able to help!
