June 21st - Summer Solstice Ball

Sleeping Beauty Ranch, 6pm – 10pm. There will be a catered buffet dinner from Durangourmet, beer provided by A &L Coors, wine from Upper Eastside Liquor and DJ entertainment. The magic of the evening will be enhanced by a live bachelor/bachelorette auction followed by dancing. Ticket price is $50

August 3rd - Back to School Fair

For over 10 years, the Family Center of Durango has been assisting low-income families in La Plata County with the cost of school supplies. For many families in the area, sending students back to school in the fall can create a significant financial burden.

The growing list of necessary items can reach prices of up to $50 per student. For families with limited resources, this can mean having to make difficult sacrifices, such as putting food on the table, just to buy all the required supplies.

The Family Center of Durango, in partnership with many local businesses, organizations and individuals, offers eligible students FREE basic school supplies to start off their year with the tools to succeed.

 

Back to school fair

Over the years, families have consistently reported that the event has helped significantly, as can been seen by the comments from families in 2011:
