A community is more than
just a place where you live.
The La Plata Family Center Coalition provides direct support to families: a single mother who has a sick child and needs health insurance, parents who have lost their jobs and need help with utility bills, groceries, or housing payment.
These are our neighbors and our friends and you can help. In addition to helping families in need, we provide education and a one-stop referral source to programs within the Coalition and connections to other programs and agencies in our community.
Whether it's low-cost after-school care, parenting classes or advocacy for families, all of our work supports our mission: "To build healthy communities by promoting and supporting the growth and development of families."
The Family Center seeks to build community, reduce family isolation and strengthen families by linking families together to lend each other the nurturing support once found in extended family networks and small communities.
